The new GARDENA MicroCutting range – precise tools for gentle harvesting.
“In search of good design” – This is how the organizers of the Red Dot Design Awards describe the mission of one of the largest design competitions in the world. The Red Dot Label has become established internationally as one of the most sought-after marks of quality for good design. The competition is held once every year. This year, GARDENA has been awarded for good design of three complete product ranges from the innovations of the year 2023. Martin Rauch, Director Brand Design at GARDENA, explains the design aspects.
Lawnmowers
The new GARDENA PowerMax Lawnmowers were developed as an integral part of the cross-manufacturer Power For All Battery Alliance. “The typical GARDENA design with a flowing yet clearly defined shape gives the mowers a powerful and agile impression. Thanks to color coding, the key operating elements are immediately recognizable and can be operated intuitively,” describes Martin Rauch.
Garden pumps
The new GARDENA Garden Pumps are characterized by an exceptionally low noise level and power consumption combined with increased performance and efficiency. Thanks to a Bluetooth connection the larger models can be intuitively controlled via smartphone app or alternatively via an embedded display interface directly at the product
“A modular design approach, which uses common parts across the range, contributes to sustainability and allows for a consistent and coherent visual perception. The characteristic trinity-design with exposed handle bar and feet protects the actual pump body and at the same time offers multiple handling opportunities for the user,” says Martin Rauch.
Cutting tools
The new GARDENA MicroCutting range consists of a series of precise tools with clever features for gentle harvesting of home-grown vegetables, herbs and fruits. FreshCut, GripCut, HerbCut and MultiCut have been optimized for their various tasks. “The design of the range focuses on an ergonomic shape and an unintimidating experience. It does not appear too tool-like, but desirable and fits optimally into balcony and kitchen environments,” explains Martin Rauch.
The new awards join a successful series. Since 2018, 15 of GARDENA's novelties have received the Red Dot Design Award.
