Whether over a large area or with pinpoint accuracy: Gardena’s many watering solutions meet all of the needs of gardeners and gardens.
Vegetable gardens, raised beds, flower tubs, and herb benches all have one thing in common: They need sufficient water, especially in the summer! But how much, and how often is it needed?
Late risers beware!
Most plants depend on a consistent level of moisture. Early in the morning is the best time to provide plants with water, before the next heat of the day. If water droplets from sprinklers remain on plants’ leaves, they can act like a magnifying glass and cause “sunburn”. It’s therefore recommended to water from below, as well as on a large area around the plants. In addition, less water evaporates on cooled soil, sparing resources.
Now even more economical is the redesigned Premium Tap Connector from Gardena. Its new anti-splash feature prevents spraying when drawing water. This way, the water from the tap goes exclusively where it’s supposed to – in a bucket or watering can. Economy is also the concept of the Gardena Micro-Drip-System. The system ensures that your green darlings in pots and plant areas outside the lawn are supplied with their life-giving water in a targeted and water-saving manner, by continuous dripping, light trickling, or gentle spray mist. In combination with a water computer, this can even be done automatically, so that late risers can hit the snooze one more time in the morning.
Golden tips for proper watering
In sunny places, plants generally need more water than in the shade. Otherwise, the general rule: The bigger the leaves, the higher the need for water. Mediterranean plants, on the other hand, are used to getting by with less moisture. While they usually manage with one or two showers a week in the bed, potted plants should be watered more often in the heat. However, a slight drying of the bale before watering stimulates the plants’ root growth. Thus it’s generally better to give plenty of water less often than just a little several times. However, it is important to avoid waterlogging. It displaces the roots’ breathing air out of the soil, and the roots will drown without oxygen.
The right solution for every need
As a general rule: Water as much as necessary and as little as possible. That isn’t just best for the plants, it’s also easy on the environment and your wallet. In order to meet the individual needs of every plant and every gardener, things have been “clicking” in the garden for 50 years. The Original Gardena System supports passionate gardeners in meeting every challenge. Whether it's a clever multi sprayer or a practical spray lance – it only takes one click and the next bed can be watered.
