More than half of Germans feel stressed1. And that has consequences: tension, headaches, stomach problems, sleep disorders and even depression. Reasons can mainly be found in professional life and in high expectations on oneself, but private life can also be exhausting1. In order to reduce stress not much is needed: Spending time in the garden and gardening brings relaxation and reduces health and mental problems2. So how can gardening time be used to the highest advantages and how can stress be reduced?

Gardening reduces stress

Reasons for too much stress can vary. An influencing factor can be everyday deadline pressure, for example. The garden however can be a remedy: Studies prove that gardening can reduce stress and can be relaxing for many people1.

A study by the University of Gothenburg has shown that gardening for two to four times a week coupled with other physical activities can improve the overall health2. But these activities did not only have positive effects on the physical health of the study participants. Additionally, they were able to participate better in their social lives and their vitality as well as mental health improved
Health scientist Roger S. Ulrich from Texas, USA has also established that a garden can have positive effects on stress reduction if it has certain characteristics, such as green areas, flowers or calmly flowing water3. The relaxing work in a garden helps to increase satisfaction and reduces stress. Physical activity also has a positive effect on the general well-being3.

More time to relax

Gardena's smart products help the gardener to have more time and to focus on their favorite gardening activities. The smart Water Control - an automatic watering control - can save up to 45 hours of time in summer4. The product controls the irrigation of the plants reliably and automatically.

The smart SILENO provides an entire working week of free time, saving around 40 hours of manual lawn mowing a year5. The mowing robot cuts lawns fully automatically and can also be controlled from any location by the Gardena smart App – which is also applicable for the Gardena smart Water Control. In addition, the smart SILENO leaves behind a beautiful cut as well as dense and deep green lawn. The fine cut grass tips thereby serve as a natural fertilizer for the lawn. Furthermore, the smart SILENO is very quiet and the garden lover can continue to enjoy the peace and relaxation of the garden.
This way, the hobby gardener can take care of gardening work that is fun - while the water control and the mowing robot do the work.
