Cleaning garden tools

A major garden tool clean-up is due at least once per year, ideally in late autumn. After that time, hobby gardeners will no longer be needing their spades etc. Cleaning prevents rust and spider’s webs damaging your tools. They remain functional over the winter. And they will last longer due to thorough cleaning and care. This in turn makes the money in your wallet last longer!

Metal parts on smaller handheld tools can easily be cleaned using a scrubbing brush and warm water. Shears and blades must be carefully freed of plant residues, oil or resin. If the blades have become worn or damaged after long periods of use, they can be replaced for a small sum. Gardena spare parts can conveniently be obtained in the manufacturer’s Online Shop. You can remove initial rust using a wire brush, fine sandpaper or derusting agent. After that, oil your tools using a thin layer of protective oil or bacon rind, or – in particular on shear joints – a Cleaning Spray.

Tool handles should also be regularly inspected or even replaced. Wooden parts can be sanded down and impregnated with linseed oil ready for the new season. With the Gardena combisystem, replacing the handle is particularly easy. In spite of this, the handle and tool can be connected together without any wobbling. Each handle can be combined with any tool.

Efficient cleaning of surfaces

Those who want to save themselves arduous sweeping and raking work can speed up the process with a battery handy vac or – over larger areas – an Electric Blower/Vac.
A modern Cleaning Nozzle helps hobby gardeners to clean their garden tools effectively from severe soiling, or supports them in cleaning surfaces. The oscillating water jet from the nozzle can even save up to 40 percent water. The Cleaning Nozzle can also be used for irrigation outside. A total of three spray patterns are possible: hard jet, flat jet and mist spray.

The new Gardena High-pressure Washer AquaClean Li-40/60 requires neither a water nor a power connection: a Li-Ion Replacement Battery (40 volts) supplies the required energy. Hobby gardeners can remove the water tank for convenient filling at the tap. Diverse accessory parts facilitate very different cleaning tasks to get garden tools and furniture, paths and patio areas to shine again.
