The new GARDENA smart Sensor enables efficient irrigation in the garden. It determines soil moisture and temperature and adjusts the scheduled automatic irrigation in the smart system. Watering takes a long time, especially in summer, which garden owners would rather enjoy with family, friends or doing other activities. Automatic irrigation is here to help. The GARDENA smart system combines lawn care and irrigation in one system, controlled via the smart App. The smart system’s intelligent irrigation solutions provide plenty of added value. Not only do they keep plants and lawns in top shape, they also use water in a particularly resource-friendly way. This protects the environment and saves you money.

Automatic irrigation is particularly efficient with the new GARDENA smart Sensor. It measures the soil temperature and soil moisture precisely where these factors are important – at the roots. Thanks to its large measuring range, the sensor can be placed in deeper areas of the lawn, flower bed or vegetable patch, as well as less deep in flower pots.

Spot-on irrigation
Combined with the smart Water Control or smart Irrigation Control from the GARDENA smart system, the smart Sensor enables needs-based and efficient watering of plants. This saves water when used in conjunction with a drip irrigation system and contributes to optimal plant growth. Because every drop counts.

As a central element of the GARDENA smart system, the smart Sensor wirelessly communicates the current status data directly to the heart of a networked garden, the GARDENA smart Gateway. As soon as the sensor measurement system registers that the soil is moist enough, the next planned watering is simply skipped. All smart products can be operated individually via the app at any time and from anywhere with just a tip of a finger.

The use of several correctly placed sensors is absolutely essential if you want to water different areas of the garden efficiently using a needs-based approach. As the flat sensor only protrudes 20 millimetres from the ground, it can remain on the lawn at all times even when operating a GARDENA Robotic Lawnmower. The GARDENA smart Sensor can only be used in the GARDENA smart system and is not compatible with other irrigation control systems.
