Roof gutters clogged with moss, leaves, and other debris can overflow and flood your patio or, in the worst case, cause moisture damage to your roof and façade. To keep clearing work from becoming a tedious, dangerous undertaking, debris can be removed from the ground safely and conveniently using a special tool like the combisystem Gutter Cleaner, with integrated water connection. Before you take your grill and garden furniture back out of the garage, it’s important to remove dirt and spider webs from the exterior surfaces. A calm moment is the best time to do this, when spring cleaning goes fastest and cleanest. When sweeping outside walls and corners, it’s important to work with clean equipment. It is essential to paint from the bottom to the top to avoid dirtying the wall again. The Gardena combisystem with various broom and brush attachments for surfaces and angles also offers the right tool for these tasks.

Have you done your pruning yet?

If it wasn’t already done in the fall, flowers, shrubs, and hedges should be pruned back to make space for new shoots. This requires a clean, sharp tool. Gardena has a variety of pruning loppers in its product range, offering the right tool for every large plant and every cut. This is not to be underestimated by gardeners, as unclean cuts and blades can damage their plants. Pruning should be done after the last frost, but before the first shoots. The longer you wait, the less time trees will have to recover from their wounds. For tree and hedge pruning: Better to cut back too much than too little, as the stronger the cut, the stronger the budding.

Note: It’s recommended that you enquire about regulations for pruning hedges and shrubs. In many places, there are legal requirements meant to prevent animals from being disturbed or even driven out when breeding in hedges. For this reason, pruning is prohibited in Germany between 1st March and 30th September. A topiary cut meant exclusively to shape the plant without cutting it too short is usually permitted.
