The new AquaPrecise watering system from GARDENA is the watering solution for lawns of up to 320 square metres. The irrigation can be flexibly adapted to the contour of the lawn and thus distributes the water precisely and evenly without overlapping.
A needs-based, customised watering system is crucial for a healthy garden. Drip irrigation delivers water specifically to the roots, avoids overwatering and prevents the development of fungal diseases on damp leaves. In addition, nutrients are not washed out and the growth of weeds is reduced. Collected rainwater is also advantageous, as it is not only easy on the wallet but also more pleasant for the plants than tap water.
For larger areas such as lawns, an innovative complete solution is available since this gardening season: where previously many individual sprinklers and pipes had to be laid underground, the AquaPrecise is now used as a compact irrigation system. The functions of sprinklers, valves and irrigation control are combined in just one product and can be installed both above and below ground. The individual contour of the lawn as well as the watering time and duration are easily programmed via the GARDENA Bluetooth app.
Good neighbours: fruit and vegetables
Whether in a bed, raised bed or greenhouse, caring for and enjoying the fruits of your own labour is a particular pleasure for plant lovers. While some swear by classical music or talking to their tomatoes for good harvest results, a completely different factor is a ‘game changer’: the neighbourhood. A skilful combination of plants not only provides variety, but the vegetables can even protect each other from pests. Matching vegetable varieties or herbs do not compete for nutrients and their metabolic products do not burden their neighbours. Carrots thrive well together with onions, leeks or chives, as these keep the carrot flies away. Spinach is also an exemplary neighbour, as its deep roots create a fine soil for radishes or lettuce to follow.
The solar-powered AquaBloom L, which draws water directly from the rain barrel or any water reservoir, supplies water to raised beds, patios or balconies. Watering is controlled by a total of 14 preset watering programs. They regulate the duration and intervals of the desired watering. The AquaBloom L set can optionally be combined with a soil moisture sensor: If the soil is sufficiently moist, the pending watering is suspended and unnecessary watering is avoided.
Diverse perennials and shrubs
Perennial beds give structure to gardens and – depending on the planting – delight with colours and fragrances almost all year round. They also provide food and shelter for insects. Perennials thrive in both sunny and shady spots and tolerate different soils. However, the plants have different watering requirements. Perennials such as step-sage or woody plants such as lavender prefer dry conditions, while monkshood loves moisture. How can these contrasting needs be met?
On the one hand, it helps with the water supply if plants with similar requirements are planted together. On the other hand, intelligent watering solutions help to supply plants with water at the right time. The GARDENA smart app takes local weather forecasts and the changing times of sunrise and sunset over the course of the season into account. The supply is optimised by networked sensors that measure the moisture in the soil. Watering is even more customised when the sensors are connected to plants from the plant library. The soil moisture is compared with the species-specific requirements of the plants and the irrigation is adjusted accordingly. This means that the plants are only watered when they really need it.
With a clever selection of plants and smart support with watering, plants not only stay well cared for and healthy, but gardening enthusiasts also have more time to devote to new planting projects or their green favourites.
